The end is near for a popular downtown Phoenix establishment that is renowned for its support of local businesses, as it will be permanently shutting its doors next month.

According to a post on social media on Thursday, The Pemberton will be permanently closing its doors in March. The owners expressed their gratitude for the memories made with their customers over the past four years, stating that they will never be forgotten.

In February 2021, the intersection of Second and Portland streets, known as The Pemberton, transformed into an open-air destination for shopping, dining, drinking, and dancing. Local retailers had the opportunity to showcase their goods, while food trucks offered their latest creations all in a single location. The event featured live performances by DJs, providing entertainment for the dancing crowds. It was recognized as the top hangout spot in Downtown by Phoenix New Times in 2023.

On February 17th and 18th, Cleo and Clementine will be hosting their newest bridal collection during the final open house of The Pemberton. The last First Friday event will take place on March 1st. The announcement of the closing of The Pemberton has brought sadness to its patrons, who have expressed their emotions on social media

The construction of the Sarah H. Pemberton house dates back to 1920 and it has remained listed on Phoenix’s registry of historic properties since 2004.
