Bike Commuter Facility To Open In Downtown Phoenix In 2020
Downtown Phoenix is actively working to make commuting by bike more convenient.
The city and three organizations — Downtown Phoenix Inc., Valley Metro and RED Development — recently announced they are opening a bike commuter facility on the ground floor of CityScape next year.
The 3,506-square-foot space at First and Washington streets will offer shower stalls, changing rooms, lockers, bike storage and space for a repair shop.
Commuters who purchase a membership will be given a key card with 24-hour access to the facilities, which will be close to the light rail.
During business hours, members can also take advantage of bike-related services including repairs, maintenance and valet.
“As more businesses, residents and students move into downtown Phoenix, the need for pedestrian-friendly sidewalks, bike lanes and multi-modal transit options is only going to increase,” Devney Preuss, CEO of Downtown Phoenix Inc., said in a press release. “The goal is to make commuting to, from and around downtown easy and convenient for everyone.”
The organization is accepting applications for a bike vendor until Jan. 7, 2020.
The vendor will decide the cost of membership, according to a spokeswoman for Downtown Phoenix Inc.
