Thunderbirds and WM Phoenix Open Announce Saturday Ticket Refund Plan

For nearly a century, the WM Phoenix Open has hosted some of the greatest golfers in the world and the most enthusiastic and passionate fans in all of professional sports.  The community support of this special week each year has allowed The Thunderbirds as tournament hosts to raise more than $190 million for Arizona charities.

This year, tournament organizers encountered among the most difficult conditions in the history of the event, as heavy rain on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday morning contributed to a significant deterioration in the conditions at TPC Scottsdale. This rainfall made a large percentage of the 190-acre golf course unusable by our fans and created significant operational challenges for the tournament.  When these conditions created congestion throughout the golf course on Saturday, the decision was made to temporarily close the main entrance and end concession sales so that we could provide a pathway for fans to safely exit the golf course.

Organizers are hoping to make good for fans who purchased a ticket and were denied entrance on Saturday offering a refund. Those with tickets that were not used can email [email protected]. A dedicated team will be available to respond to inquiries and answer any questions.

Organizers have issued an assurance that they are aware that changes need to be made and have expressed that they will spend the upcoming months identifying those areas where change is necessary. Not just for Friday and Saturday, but for the entire week.

The Thunderbirds are motivated and constantly looking to make the WM Phoenix Open experience better, ensuring the future success of this tournament for the fans and our community for years to come.
