Arrest Made in Unsolved 2005 Newborn Death Case at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

According to Phoenix law enforcement, they have made an arrest in a case that has remained unsolved for 18 years. The case involves the death of a newborn baby girl who was left abandoned in a bathroom at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport.

According to authorities, a case was opened on October 10, 2005, following the discovery of a deceased infant wrapped in a hotel bag in a female restroom at Sky Harbor.

The case was handled by the FBI Phoenix Violent Crime Task Force, and the child was given the nickname “Baby Skylar”.

According to a press release on Monday, the FBI and Phoenix Police detectives working on a cold case from November 2021 utilized Investigative Genetic Genealogy (IGG) and reviewed existing evidence to potentially identify the mother of Baby Skylar. By cross-referencing the potential match with evidence found at the scene, investigators were able to identify a maternal match for the newborn victim.

According to authorities, Annie Anderson, 51, confessed to being the mother of Baby Skylar during an investigation in Washington.

An arrest warrant was issued for Anderson by a Grand Jury in Maricopa County.

Charges of first-degree murder have been brought against Anderson, who is currently in custody in Washington. She is awaiting extradition to Phoenix.

A press conference regarding the investigation will be held by the Phoenix police on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.
