Free Pool Fences Available for Eligible Households in the Valley

Families in the Valley now have the opportunity to apply for the 2024 Pool Fence Safety Program and receive a complimentary fence for their backyard pools.

In a Monday announcement from Child Crisis Arizona, Salt River Project (SRP), and 493 Firefighter Foundation, the complimentary fences will be accessible until March 24.

As we are all too familiar, pools can pose a threat to small children. In an effort to protect children, three local entities have joined forces to assist parents and caregivers who are unable to afford protective barriers for their pools.

Steps for Applying to the 2024 Pool Fence Safety Program

16 new pool fences were provided to families in Maricopa County through this program last year.

Families in Maricopa County who have young children under their care can submit an application through Child Crisis Arizona’s website for the Pool Fence Safety Program. However, they must fulfill the following requirements:

  • It is required for the family to reside in Maricopa County.
  • The household must include a child who is 6 years old or younger.
  • The homeowner must be a permanent resident, not a tenant.

This program is designed to assist families who require aid. Eligible candidates are required to demonstrate their utilization of food stamps, Medicaid, WIC, energy assistance, or unemployment benefits. Alternatively, applicants can provide their latest tax returns to confirm their eligibility based on income.

The program has a total sponsorship of $25,000, which is funded by SRP.

SRP has a strong dedication towards enhancing water safety for the families and children in our community. They collaborate with Child Crisis and other organizations to educate families and offer valuable resources that promote the well-being and security of children in and around water.

Please remember to always watch children around water.
