On Saturday, Phoenix police arrested a man on multiple charges after a 2-year-old child passed away due to reportedly consuming fentanyl.

At 8 pm on Friday evening, December 1st, police were called from a hospital near 12th Street and McDowell Road for an infant whose breathing had stopped.

The medical personnel reported to the authorities that the minor had expired, but had no visible wounds.

Oswaldo Lozano, 27, the father of the victim, was present in his home when he dozed off with his son lying beside him. He awoke to find his son unresponsive and discovered blue M30 pills nearby.

Lozano administered more than one dose of Narcan to the child, and then went to a Circle K store in the vicinity. There, a person provided an additional dose of Narcan to the child. The child was then taken to the hospital, where he was sadly declared dead.

The authorities reported that the individual attempted to carry out CPR. He notified his boss and spouse to inform them that he would be taking the infant to the hospital.

According to law enforcement records, Lozano confessed to addiction and revealed he uses fentanyl tablets multiple times a day.

Lozano’s car was found to contain pills, a package of Narcan, and a needle, and further evidence was revealed in the family home.

Lozano was taken into custody and faces charges of child abuse, negligent homicide, and drug possession.
