Over the last few years, Phoenix’s food scene has been flourishing. The newest addition to the city is PYRO, a Japanese-American Bistro, which made its debut this week in the Arcadia area.

The Flagship Restaurant Group has recently revealed their new venture, PYRO, which is spearheaded by Nick Hogan, Anthony Hitchcock, Tom Allisma, and Tony Gentile. These four individuals have a vast collection of restaurants in their portfolio, ranging from the renowned Blue Sushi Sake Grill to Ghost Donkey Phoenix and Denver, Plank Seafood Provisions, and Palma.

The décor of PYRO is outrageously wonderful. AvroKO teamed up with PYRO for the design of the new upscale Japanese American Bistro. Upon entering the restaurant, diners attention is immediately drawn to the custom-made hearth, where a flame burns with wood and charcoal, cooking up a wide range of menu items, such as smoked, grilled, roasted, or seared dishes.

The interior design was inspired by the 1930s Japanese gambling house and includes features from the 1950s such as geisha patterns and velvets. The bar serves classic cocktails and a menu featuring dishes like 40-Day Dry Aged Bone-In Ribeye with House-made Pickles and PYRO Jus, “World’s Best Branzino” with Pickled Ginger Shoots, Tokyo Turnip & Herb Salad and Lemon-Chili Vinaigrette, and Dungeness Crab Noodles with Meyer Lemon, Creme Fraiche, Chive and Smoked Trout Roe. Specialty drinks include the Calamansi Margarita, which is made of Lalo Tequila, Thai Chili + Calamansi Sherbet, Aloe Liqueur and Lime, and Louis’ Martini: Haku Vodka, Oka Japanese Bermutto, Pomegranate, Pineapple, Yuzu.

The eatery boasts an impressive selection of Japanese whisky, sake, and wines from various parts of the world.

Nick Hogan, CEO and co-owner of Flagship Restaurant Group and PYRO, shared that sustainability was the main focus when creating the menu. The company is devoted to their Conscious Earth Mission, which includes having one of the largest sustainably sourced seafood programs through their partnership with the renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch. In addition, they have formed relationships with animal welfare organizations and farms across the nation.

PYRO offers a unique blend of American bistro and Japanese izakaya, combined with impressive cocktails and succulent steaks cooked on an open flame. Click here for the complete menu.
