Phoenix Union High School District Purchases Lockdown Kits For All Schools

By on September 28, 2023 0 191Views

The Phoenix Union High School District has made a purchase to help prepare their schools for future lockdowns.

PUSD purchased thousands of lockdown kits for every classroom in the district in preparation for an emergency situation. The kits that will be kept in each classroom are filled with food, water, first aid supplies, blankets and even a makeshift toilet.

The frequency of deadly mass shootings in the country and occasional lockdowns in the district have prompted school leaders to take action to equip teachers should a need arise. In many situations, when PUSD schools have had to go on lock down to clear any potential threats, students and staff were held in classrooms for hours. Allowing teachers to have access to basic resources to keep the students safe and comfortable is important.

In addition to the lockdown kits, PUSD has been investing in more training and support staff to respond to schools during and after lockdowns.
