Phoenix Child Hospitalized After Accidental Shooting

A child has been hospitalized and expected to make a full recovery after an accidental shooting in Phoenix near Camelback Road and 22nd Avenue.

Phoenix police officers were called to the area for reports of a shooting just after 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

When officers arrived to the scene they located a young child who reportedly accidentally shot themselves.

The child was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No additional information on the age of the child or how the child obtained the gun have been released.  The investigation remains ongoing.
