A Valley mother is dead and her 4-year-old daughter is in critical condition after an 18-year-old man was allegedly driving 115 mph on a Phoenix street Tuesday night.

Eulalio Juarez Rodriguez is accused of speeding westbound on Southern Avenue around 8 p.m. His Camaro he was driving collided with a Hyundai turning left on 32nd Avenue.

35-year-old Katrina Dean was driving the Hyundai, which after impact was knocked into a wooden power pole. She died at the scene. Her 4-year-old daughter, Aubrielle Randels, was in a child restraint seat in the back seat, was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition.

Aubrielle was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition, and family members say doctors are trying to treat her brain trauma.

During the investigation, detectives learned the driver of the Camaro, Rodriguez, was traveling west on Southern at more than 115 miles per hour 2.5 seconds before the crash. A half a second before the crash impact, he slowed down to 88 mph. The posted speed limit on that road is 45 mph.

Rodriguez has been booked into the Maricopa County Jail and is facing charges of manslaughter due to the high speed. Impairment is not suspected. The investigation remains ongoing.
