Third Annual Cook Off & Tasting Event Returns February 29

Bring the beans, make it spicy, load up the beef and wash it all down with bourbon & beer. Anyway you mix it, come taste the best at the third annual KMLE Country Chili Bourbon & Beer Festival. Presented by Stinkin’ Good Chili, this event encourages local cooks to get in the kitchen and bring the southwestern flavor to compete against the participating restaurants in the chili cook off.

Taking place on Saturday, February 29 the Chili, Bourbon & Beer festival will also feature more than a dozen top shelf bourbons to sample, mixed drinks and local crisp beers. A full day of live country music performances by Western Fusion band, Jim Bachmanand the Day Drinkers, Chad Freeman & Redline, Cole Trains and Southbound will heat up the stage.

“The event is a great combination of favor and flair,” said Landon Evans creative director of HDE Agency, the event’s producer. “From mild to unbearably hot chili offerings and over a dozen of top shelf bourbons you’re likely not to try – we welcome all to indulge, experience and engage with the variety of bourbons, beers and bands.”

Festival guests will also revel in the flair performances like flame throwing, life-size lawn games, eating competitions including cornbread, chili dog and Frito pie challenges and more.

A portion of the proceeds from Chili Bourbon & Beer Fest will benefit the Greater Cause Foundation, a nonprofit organization that gives back to communities’ greater causes including children’s welfare, equality, anti-bullying, hunger, sickness, disaster relief, homelessness and animal abuse.

The festival will take place at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park, located at 178 E. Commonwealth Ave., Chandler. The gates open at noon and the festivities run until 9 p.m. A variety of ticket options are now on sale.
