In a recent report by UnitedHealth Group, sensitive health and personal data were discovered in the aftermath of a major cyber attack that occurred in February. The company believes that a large portion of the American population may have been affected by this breach.

According to UnitedHealth, there is no indication of any “exfiltration” of data, such as doctors’ charts or complete medical histories. It has been reported that someone uploaded 22 screenshots onto the dark web, which were taken from stolen files containing private and safeguarded health data over a period of approximately one week.

The company is working authorities and will make an effort to inform those who have been impacted.

According to UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty, the recent attack has raised concerns and caused inconvenience for both consumers and providers. However, the company is fully dedicated to assisting and offering support to those who may require it.

The company announced that a specialized website (http://changecybersupport.com/) has been introduced to offer additional details. Additionally, UnitedHealth has announced that they will offer credit monitoring for a period of two years to individuals impacted by the incident.

The announcement was made following UnitedHealth’s statement that a cyberattack had caused disruptions in payment for providers, resulting in difficulties for numerous pharmacies in processing insurance company bills.

According to UnitedHealth, pharmacy services are currently operating at 99% of their capacity after the incident on Monday. The company also stated that medical claims are now being processed at almost normal rates. Change Healthcare, responsible for payment processing, has reached 86% of its pre-incident levels and is gradually improving as more features are being restored.
