The Board of Appeals meeting held on Thursday, in collaboration with the Arizona State Land Department, has granted approval for 95 acres to be put up for auction.

A glimpse at what could be has been given of the potential appearance of the Arizona Coyotes’ upcoming arena and entertainment district in Scottsdale.

Prior to breaking ground on their plans, the Coyotes must successfully bid on state land at an auction. The exact date of the land auction has not been set yet. Additional information on the renderings has not yet been disclosed.

The illustrations showcase the potential state-owned land that is situated near Loop 101 and Scottsdale Road.

Since 2022, the Coyotes have been hosting their home games at Mullett Arena, which is also the home of Arizona State University’s hockey team.

The Coyotes have been searching for a better option while the team and league consistently stated that Mullett Arena would only serve as a temporary home for the team.

The team’s effort to establish a new arena was unsuccessful after Tempe citizens rejected a proposal to allow construction on an entertainment district near Rio Salado Parkway and Priest Drive.

Upon examining various sites along the East Valley’s Loop 101, The hockey team has feverishly been reviewing a variety of areas in the valley over the last few years.

More details to follow as the team moves forward with the attempt to purchase the land at auction to be announced at a later date.
