Approximately 200,000 Tesla vehicles in the United States are being recalled due to a potential issue with the backup camera not operating when the car is in reverse.

The 2023 model year recall includes specific Models Y, S, and X. These models are all equipped with the “Full Self-Driving” computer 4.0 and running software versions 2023.44.30 through 2023.44.30.6 or 2023.44.100.

According to documents released by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the company reports that software instability could potentially hinder the display of camera images when the Teslas are in reverse. This, in turn, could pose a higher risk of accidents, as stated by the safety agency.

Tesla has stated that there have been no reported crashes or injuries. The issue has reportedly been resolved through the implementation of an online software update.

Beginning on March 22, owners will receive notification through a written letter.
