On Wednesday, the city of Phoenix introduced a program to supply chilled water for the purpose of keeping individuals cool, particularly in the hot summer season.

The pilot program for Chilled Drinking Water aims to increase water availability by introducing two new chilled bottle-filling stations in downtown Phoenix. One is located near Phoenix City Hall while the other is situated at Cesar Chavez Plaza on Second Avenue and Washington Street. These stations are specifically designed to offer refreshing water to anyone in need. Additionally, each station also features two standard water fountains.

According to a statement released by the city, the selected locations are a result of a data-driven approach towards promoting sustainable urban development. Mayor Kate Gallego of Phoenix emphasized the importance of increasing public access to drinking water, especially in highly populated areas with frequent pedestrian and public transit activity. This initiative aims to ensure the well-being and safety of both residents and tourists, particularly during the summer season.

Phoenix authorities have announced they plan on implementing various strategies in the upcoming months to combat the intense heat. More details will be provided in coming months.
