St. Mary’s Food Bank is aiming to distribute 21,000 turkeys to families in need this Thanksgiving season, matching the amount the charity provided in 2022. Yet, the organization is facing difficulty in reaching its goal and is requesting assistance from the public.
With the Thanksgiving Day deadline looming, St. Mary’s is currently has 12,000 turkeys, but is still in need of 9,000 more. To reach their goal of providing food for all the families in need that will visit, the food bank has requested donations in the form of turkeys, holiday foods and/or cash from businesses, organizations and the public.
The food bank is accepting donations of both money and goods at its Phoenix and Surprise locations between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monetary contributions can be made through the nonprofit’s website.
Additionally, the Phoenix Police Department’s Desert Horizon Precinct will be receiving donations on Thursday, November 9th, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
St. Mary’s is also hosting its annual Super Saturday Turkey Drive on Saturday, November 18th, which allows people to donate $20 to put a turkey on the table for Thanksgiving.
