Arizona Man Arrested In California After Woman Found Dead In Trunk Of Car

An Arizona man has been arrested for murder after a woman’s body was discovered in California.

On Monday in California, Huntington Beach Police Department police officers were called to a home for a family disturbance. At some point during the investigation, officers discovered a woman’s body in the trunk of a car. Police officials report that it appears she died under suspicious circumstances.

Simultaneously, on Monday, the Holbrook Police Department initiated a search for 54-year-old Christi Lynn Romero, who authorities believe to have been taken by Rodriguez, her estranged boyfriend. The search began after Romero’s family called authorities to report her missing.

After on scene interviews in California and strong evidence found at the scene, police arrested 34-year-old Richard Paul Rodriguez of Holbrook, Arizona. He was booked into jail on one charge of murder.

Holbrook officers began the search for Rodriguez, after he was served with a protection order on Nov. 2  Police say at that time he was removed from the trailer. Rodriguez then traveled to his parent’s home in Huntington Beach, California where after reports of a family disturbance, responding officers found Romero in the trunk of a car.

An investigation remains ongoing.
