Time is Running Out to Finish ‘The Zone’ Clean-up

The City of Phoenix is continuing its efforts to clean up the downtown area and provide assistance to those who are living without a home prior to the looming “The Zone” deadline.

On Wednesday morning, a group of people completed another cleanup of “The Zone” which is has been set for November 4.

This week’s clean-up concentrated on the final block that had not yet been cleared out, after multiple clean-ups over the past few months. On Wednesday morning, the city spokesperson reported that approximately 70 people living in the area were given help to secure temporary housing and other services.

A spokesperson noted that most individuals have been complying with the regulations that no camping is allowed in that particular area. Consequently, the city needs to take action to make sure this rule remains enforced.

The city of Phoenix has declared that it will stay in contact with individuals going through homelessness so as to assess their individual requirements.

In the coming months, more housing and other resources for the homeless is expected to become accessible. By the close of the year, the city is expected to have a more refined collection of data on their efforts to combat homelessness and the current number of homeless people.
