Phoenix Residents Invited to Attend the Third Annual Urban Wildlife Conservation Event

​On Saturday, Oct. 7, residents are invited to join the City of Phoenix, U.S. Fish and Wildlife ServiceASU, Rio ReimaginedCorazon Latino and the National Audubon Society for a celebration of Urban Wildlife Conservation Day.

Visit and learn about the diverse ecosystem of the Salt River, volunteer to help this unique habitat and enjoy fun family outdoor activities at this free community event.

Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area, Northeast 7th Avenue Trailhead

2801 S. 7th Ave, Phoenix, AZ, 85003

 

Schedule of events (no registration necessary):

  • 7 a.m. – Clean up the Salt River – Volunteers remove trash from river area
  • 8 a.m.-noon – Community activities
    • Live Animal Presentations – (8:15-8:45 a.m. and 10:15-10:45 a.m.) Educational sessions on our desert neighbors
    • Walk for the Wild (9-10 a.m.) – Guided walk with bird, plant and cultural experts
    • Storytelling (9:15-9:45 a.m.) – Entertainment through stories about nature
    • Pollinator Planting (11-11:30 a.m.) – Plant with Keep Phoenix Beautiful​​

The Urban Wildlife Conservation event is held along the Salt River, a culturally significant natural resource to the Valley and home to a variety of wildlife. More than 30 local partner organizations are participating to share ways to celebrate and protect this shared space.

 

Entertainment and refreshments will be provided by storytellers, artists, musicians and local food vendors.
