Scottsdale police have arrested two women for allegedly targeting elderly women in a series of thefts at four grocery stores in Scottsdale.

Scottsdale Police Department arrested Ahzane Williams, 26, and Toniesha Odom, 27, for the aggravated identity theft of three or more persons.

In a string of several incidents this past weekend, both Williams and Odom are being accused of stealing phones and wallets from supermarket shoppers and using stolen credit cards to purchase gift cards.

The alleged robberies took place at the Albertsons at Thomas and Scottsdale roads, the Bashas’ at Granite Reef Road and McDonald Drive, the Bashas’ at Indian School and Hayden roads and the Fry’s at Miller and Indian School roads.

Police reports state that the four victims all realized their items were missing after one of the suspects struck up conversations to distract them.

Surveillance footage from the Fry’s shows Odom making conversation with the one of the victims while Williams removed items from the elderly woman’s purse, which was in her shopping cart.

Officers were able to locate the suspects and stop their vehicle. Upon investigation, police found additional credit cards, gift cards and ID cards in the car.

Evidence found have led investigators find additional victims beyond the four reported cases.

Police are encouraging anyone else who believe they may have been a victim of the theft scheme should call the police at 480-312-5000 or the local police department if the crime occurred in a neighboring city.
