A major development project may be transforming empty land on the corner of Central Avenue and Indian School Road.

In an area where there is one office building after another, and a time where many are working from home and not even going into an office, developers say they have a better plan for the use of the land.

Pivotal Group is in the process to develop the highly sought after land. Their major development, currently being proposed would put in a 21-story apartment building, condo tower, senior living complex, 18-story office tower, restaurants, retail stores, a grocery store and 1,450 residential units.

In the original plans, that began few years ago, the development was initially set to be mostly commercial development. Now, the developers are looking to take the 18 acres of land and transform it into a multi-use community where people can live, work and shop. The project is in the early stages. The next public hearing on the development is set for Aug. 16.

Many new upcoming developments across the valley have seen this concept more and more. People are moving toward the eat, work, play lifestyle where they can walk down the street to eat, and not rely on transportation. The central Phoenix location is very desirable where residents can hop on the light rail and be downtown to catch a game or a concert in a matter of minutes or head to Tempe to enjoy the nightlife. The convenience of a central location with easy transportation and great restaurants surrounding is very appealing.

More information to come after the development plans pass through the hearing process.
