President Joe Biden’s son Hunter has reached an agreement with the Justice Department and has been charged with failing to pay federal income tax and illegally possessing a weapon.

As part of the agreement, Hunter Biden will plead guilty to two federal tax misdemeanor offenses and is expected to reach an agreement on the felony charge of illegally possessing a firearm as a drug user, according to the filing in a federal court in Delaware. He will appear in court to plead guilty to the charges at a future date.

The gun charge comes after Hunter Biden possessed a handgun, a Colt Cobra 38 special, despite knowing he was a drug user. The count carries a maximum sentence of up to 10 years in prison, however the full details of the agreement reached were not released from the Justice Department.

The agreement ends a long Justice Department investigation into Biden’s second son, who has struggled with addiction.

The news of the deal is on the heels of congressional Republicans who are pursuing their investigations into Hunter Biden’s business dealings, including several questionable foreign payments and other concerning aspects of his finances.

The White House had no immediate comment on the case.
