A report came in early this morning, that two people were killed during an apparent electrocution accident on a Phoenix sports field.

Wednesday morning shortly before 6 a.m. near 23rd and Peoria avenues, officials say two victims were electrocuted after “coming in contact with in-ground electrical wires.

Police have identified the victims as one man and one woman. Their names have not yet been released. Both individuals were unable to be revived and died at the scene.

APS has shut down the power down in the area, to allow firefighters to approach the two people safely. Around 143 people were without power while firefighters assessed the incident. An APS believe no electrical lines were involved in the incident, but initial reports believe the electrocution could have been caused by City of Phoenix equipment.

An investigation is underway by Phoenix police.
