The “Greenest Show on Grass” is underway and with limited spectator access in 2021, the WM Phoenix Open is expecting records crowd for this year’s biggest golf party.

One major concern post tournament each day is the increase risk of drunk drivers on our roadways.

The Scottsdale Police Department, in collaboration with the Tempe Police Department, the Department of Public Safety, and the Salt River Police Department are asking Open attendees to be responsible and not to drink and drive.

A large DUI Task Force will be implemented from February 8th through February 12th, 2022, specifically for the WM Phoenix Open.

The goal of the officers assigned to the Task Force is to contact those drivers who have made the disastrous decision to drive impaired and remove them from the roadway before they hurt themselves or others on the road.

Authorities want to remind all that a DUI is 100% preventable. Should you plan on consuming alcoholic beverages or using recreational marijuana, the best choice a driver can make, is to find some other form of transportation that does not involve them operating a motor vehicle. Make plans to have a designated driver for you so you remain safe whether that means getting a rideshare, or designated a sober driver.  This year’s event has specifically set up a designated lot for rideshares. Police say, use it!
