Local businesses looking for an extra hand this summer can also give back to the community by teaming up with a Phoenix summer youth job program.

The annual Phoenix Youth RISE summer employment opportunity places motivated youth and young adults with businesses for summer jobs where they can be mentored, gain career guidance and receive job-specific training.

Employers can hire an “intern” for up to 20 hours a week (100 hours total), with all wages and training costs paid by Phoenix Youth RISE, according to the city of Phoenix.

The four-week program for ages 16 to 24 years old runs through June and July.

“It’s heartening to see summer job opportunities returning for our young people with the Phoenix Youth RISE program for 2021,” Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego said in a press release.

“For businesses, this is a unique chance to mentor and guide our workforce of the future, which is critically important to the continued growth and success of our city.”

The program aims to give companies an opportunity to invest in a potential future employee, as well as offering a pathway and insight into future careers for the young participants.
