Overnight Closures at I-10 ‘Stack’ Interchange in Phoenix Start Oct. 20

Drivers with overnight travel plans this week at the “Stack” interchange connecting Interstate 10 and Interstate 17 near downtown Phoenix  should plan for freeway and ramp closures starting Tuesday night, Oct. 20, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The following closures are scheduled while crews conduct regularly scheduled bridge inspections at the Stack interchange:

  • Northbound I-17 closed at I-10 from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 21). Southbound I-17 ramp to eastbound I-10 closed. Northbound I-17 ramps to I-10 (both directions) will remain open. Northbound I-17 off-ramp at McDowell Road closed. DETOUR: Northbound I-17 traffic can exit at Adams Street and use northbound I-17 frontage road. Southbound I-17 traffic can connect to eastbound I-10 by exiting to eastbound McDowell Road and using southbound 19th Avenue.
  • Eastbound I-10 ramp to southbound I-17 closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 22). DETOUR: Eastbound I-10 traffic can exit to southbound 35th or 27th avenues and use eastbound Jefferson Street or Buckeye Road to access southbound I-17.
  • Southbound I-17 closed at I-10 from 9 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday (Oct. 23). Eastbound I-10 ramp to northbound I-17 closed. Southbound I-17 ramps to I-10 (both directions) will remain openDETOUR: Southbound I-17 traffic can exit at McDowell Road and use southbound I-17 frontage road. Eastbound I-10 traffic can exit to northbound 35th or 27th avenues and use eastbound McDowell or Thomas roads to access northbound I-17.
  • Eastbound I-10 ramp to northbound I-17 closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 24). DETOUR: Eastbound I-10 traffic can exit to northbound 35th or 27th avenues and use eastbound McDowell or Thomas roads to access northbound I-17.
