Former Maricopa Sheriff’s Detective Arrested in Operation Targeting Sexual Predators
A former Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office detective was one of five suspects arrested in the past two weeks as part of an operation in Pinal County targeting sexual predators, officials said Wednesday.
Christopher Butts, 44, was arrested last Wednesday on charges of aggravated luring of a minor for sexualexploitation and furnishing harmful items to a minor.
Butts, who served as an MCSO detective, was out on bond for a February arrest on the same charges.
Butts and the other suspects were arrested as part of the month-long ‘Operation Home Alone 2’, which targeted sexual predators who attempted to lure underage children with the intent of engaging in sexual activity.
The other four suspects, listed below were arrested between Aug. 26 and Thursday:
- Daniel May, 40, of Maricopa
- Matthew Salley, 38, of Maricopa
- Jordan Holloway, 26, of Maricopa
- Ryan Kellerman, 36, of Maricopa
Authorities say August 26, 2020, detectives arrested Daniel May for luring a minor for sexual exploitation. On the same day, detectives arrested Matthew Salley for luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
On August 27, 2020, detectives arrested Jordan Holloway for luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
On September 3, 2020, detectives arrested Ryan Kellerman on charges of aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation and furnishing harmful items to a minor. Kellerman is also a suspect in a child pornography case with the Maricopa Police Department.
Officials say ‘Operation Home Alone 2’ is a joint operation involving: DPS, Casa Grande Police, Homeland Security, Maricopa Police and the Pinal County Attorney’s office.
The DPS says this is an ongoing investigation and additional arrests are pending.
