Excessive Heat Warning Issued; Phoenix Temperatures to Reach 117 This Weekend

The hottest temperatures of the year are expected to blister metro Phoenix starting Friday, jumping from 113 degrees to 117 degrees Sunday, forecasters said.

There won’t be much relief the other couple of days, either. The National Weather Service predicted a high of 116 Saturday and 115 Monday.

This is “not just very hot temperatures,” Phoenix meteorologist Austin Jamison said, “but extremely hot temperatures.”

An excessive heat warning will go into effect Friday at 10 a.m. and end Monday at 8 p.m.

“People definitely want to adjust their plans if they had outdoor activities, especially strenuous activities,” Jamison said.

“This is quite a bit above normal,” Jamison said.

The hottest day of the year so far in the area was 112 degrees.

The Valley has already been under multiple excessive heat warnings since June and hit 110 degrees for the first time this year on May 29.
