New Uber Feature Allows Riders to Get Them To The Slopes
The Arizona ski slopes are open for business, but do you need a lift up the mountain? Just in time for ski season, Uber is moving mountains to get skiers and snowboarders up the hill with all their gear. The ride-hailing company announced this week that Uber Ski is coming.
The new feature in the Uber app allows users to request a vehicle with a rack or extra space that can get riders and their gear to ski resorts.
Uber Ski will launch on Tuesday in 23 U.S. markets, including Anchorage, Boise, Boston, Colorado Springs, Denver, Eastern Washington, Flagstaff, Fort Collins, Grand Rapids, Green Bay, Lehigh Valley, Minneapolis-St. Paul, New Hampshire, Portland (Oregon and Maine), the Colorado Rockies, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Upstate New York, Vermont, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Worcester, and Wyoming.
“Alleviating the hassle of transporting gear to and from the slopes, Uber Ski is a great way to get to your destination safely and quickly so you can enjoy more time on mountain and less time worrying about the shlep,” Laura Jones, global head of product marketing at Uber, told Travel + Leisure.
Like other rides in the app, Uber Ski will show the charge upfront.
Lyft also offers a similar service, but it not available in Arizona. If you have a ski vacation plans, Lyft offers the service in Colorado, Utah, and the Lake Tahoe Region.
What is UberSKI:
• UberSKI allows riders to request a vehicle equipped with either a ski rack or truck bed
• Every trip includes a $8.00 pickup fee on top of the normal uberX rates. This fee is not subject to the Uber Service Fee so you get to keep 100%.
• As a fast and practical option for getting off the mountain, UberSKI opens you up to more riders in more places
