Scottsdale Among Best Cities For Vegans And Vegetarians

According to the WalletHub report, “2019’s Best Cities for Vegans & Vegetarians”, Scottsdale is one of the cities leading the way to more of a plant-based, meat-free lifestyle.

Although Scottsdale ranked at No. 11 (30 spots higher than any other Arizona city) on the list of ‘Most Vegetarian- & Vegan-Friendly Cities’, they came in at No. 1 in ‘Highest Percentage of Restaurants Serving Vegetarian Options’, and in ‘Highest Percentage of Restaurants Serving Vegan Options’.

WalletHub came up with their findings based on three main categories: affordability; diversity, accessibility and quality; and vegetarian lifestyle. Scottsdale’s best showing was in the vegetarian lifestyle category, where it ranked seventh.

Other Arizona cities that were ranked much further down the list were No. 43 Mesa, No. 45 Phoenix, No. 50 Gilbert, No. 51 Chandler, No. 62 Glendale and No. 66 Tucson. Mesa did get the No. 9 spot in the affordability category.

Gilbert was ranked one of the worst in the metric of vegetable nurseries per capita at No. 97.

Coming in at No. 1 on the list was Portland, OR with El Paso, TX finishing dead last to no surprise.
