The Arizona Game and Fish Department releases a new app to help fishers and boaters with excursion planning.
On Monday, the department released Fish & Boat AZ , an upgraded interactive app. With the app, users can find specific bodies of water by name, area, fishing species and regulations, watercraft restrictions, activities, and accommodations.
“This is a significant upgrade to the previous Fish & Boat AZ map,” said Andy Clark, the AZGFD statewide sportfish program manager. “You’ll see it’s one of the most valuable resources any Arizona angler can have at their fingertips.”
At the moment, the interactive map provides information on all of Arizona’s major lakes and fishing programs. By the end of 2019, AZGFD also plans to feature information about Arizona streams. Fishers and boaters will have an approved experience due to the app’s features.
The department encourages fishers and boaters to use the features they have put into effect for the summer, including the “Have a reel fun summer” campaign.
In June, the AZGFD stocked fish in Lynx Lake, Dead Horse Ranch State Park, City and Santa Fe Reservoirs, Frances Short Pond, Scott Reservoir, Lower Lake Mary, Kaibab Lake, Woodland Reservoir, and Goldwater Lake.
The AZGFD wants fishers and boaters to know that individuals are responsible for knowing the rules of the body of water they use.
Anyone who is older than 10 must have a valid fishing license if they are fishing in public waters. All boats and watercraft must be registered.
