The holiday season in Phoenix begins with a glow, and this year the tradition continues as the APS Electric Light Parade returns for its 38th annual celebration. For more than three decades, families, neighborhood groups and local businesses have gathered along the parade route to enjoy one of the city’s most beloved holiday events. The evening brings together the community with dazzling floats, bright displays and a festive spirit that lights up Central Phoenix.
Parade Details
The 2025 APS Electric Light Parade takes place on Saturday, December 6. The parade begins at 7 p.m., and its runtime varies depending on entries and crowd flow. The route starts at Central Avenue and Montebello Avenue. From there, it travels south before turning east and ending at 7th Street and Indian School Road. Families who plan to attend are encouraged to arrive early, as viewing spots fill quickly.
To accommodate parade entries and spectators, several roads will close from 5 to 11 p.m. These include Central Avenue from Camelback Road to Bethany Home Road, 7th Street from Indian School Road to Osborn Road and Camelback Road from 1st Avenue to 7th Street.
Tips for Paradegoers
Organizers remind guests that the parade takes place rain or shine. Since crowds can grow large, many people arrive hours early to secure a good spot. Viewing areas are first come, first served, so early preparation helps. Guests should also plan for cooler temperatures after sunset and bring jackets, blankets and chairs.
Portable restrooms are available along the route, and spectators should locate the nearest one before the parade begins. Because the streetlights turn off once the parade starts, attendees should stay behind the cones and avoid entering the roadway. Parking is available on surrounding streets on a first come, first served basis. However, heavy traffic is expected, so using Valley Metro Light Rail is encouraged.
Families often bring snacks and drinks to enjoy during the evening. While coolers are allowed, alcohol and glass containers are not. Parade staff, monitors and public safety personnel will be stationed along the route, and all spectators are asked to follow their instructions.
Watch From Home
For those unable to attend in person, the parade will air on ABC15 on Sunday, December 15 from 4 to 5 p.m. and again on Wednesday, December 25 from 9 to 10 a.m. Arizona 61 will air the parade on December 25 from noon to 1 p.m. Viewers can also tune in to the PHXTV web stream at 7 p.m. every day through December 25.
