In an event for sports and movie fans alike, Academy Award-winning actor Kevin Costner will join attendees for a free screening of his iconic film Field of Dreams following the Western Wiffle Ball Classic on Saturday, October 25, at Scottsdale Stadium.

The championship game begins at 6:30 p.m., with the movie starting immediately afterward at 7 p.m. Admission is free for fans entering after 6:30 p.m., and seating will be available both in the stands and on the field. All seats are first come, first served.

Western Wiffle Ball Classic Returns to Scottsdale

The Western Wiffle Ball Classic, a fan-favorite Scottsdale tradition, will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 7408 E. Osborn Road. The tournament attracts teams from across the country, including players from Arizona, California, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Founded by Valley resident Logan Rose, the event celebrates community, nostalgia, and the joy of America’s favorite backyard pastime.

A Movie That Inspired Generations

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be in the same stadium and watch Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner,” said Western Wiffle Ball League Founder Logan Rose. “I was one of those kids inspired by the movie and thanks to my parents we built our own wiffle ball field in my backyard so I could literally play on my own field of dreams and here we are today meeting the man who inspired it all.”

Costner’s 1989 film Field of Dreams remains one of the most beloved baseball movies of all time. Its famous line, “If you build it, they will come,” inspired fans to create backyard fields and community tournaments nationwide — a legacy the Western Wiffle Ball Classic continues to honor.

Enjoy Wiffle Ball, Film, and Community

This year’s Classic will also feature top players from around the country, including Las Vegas standout Jordan Bohnet and New York’s Jordan Robles. In addition to the main tournament, fans can enjoy a Home Run Derby, giving competitors a chance to show off their power at the plate.

For fans of sports, film, and community fun, this special evening with Kevin Costner offers the perfect way to celebrate America’s love for sports — both on the big screen and in the backyard.
