Light Up the Night: Water Lantern Festival Tempe 2025

  • October 6, 2025
  • Heloise C.
  • Community, Events, Family, The Upper Middle

Get ready for a luminous evening: the Water Lantern Festival returns to Kiwanis Park in Tempe from November 7-9, 2025. The Water Lantern Festival in Tempe takes place on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, November 8, 2025, starting at 2:30 p.m.; and Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This festival offers more than just lanterns on water. It invites people of all ages and backgrounds to gather, reflect, and connect. As night falls, you’ll release a personalized lantern onto the water, watch it float, and see the glowing reflections dance across the surface. In addition, live music, food trucks, artisan vendors, and interactive elements like scavenger hunts enhance the evening experience.

What’s Included With Tickets

With each General Admission ticket, you’ll get:

  • A floating lantern kit (lantern, LED candle, marker)
  • A commemorative drawstring bag + conversation/playing cards
  • Access to food trucks, vendors & festival amenities
  • Cleanup: the organizers retrieve lanterns and clean the water and area after the event
Why You Should Go

The Water Lantern Festival is a beautiful way to create memories. Whether you’re honoring someone, expressing a wish, or simply seeking peace, the lantern launch offers both ceremony and serenity. Second, the setting by the lake at dusk gives a magical contrast to daily life here in the Valley—cooler air, glowing lanterns, community spirit. Third, it’s suited for all ages and group types: date night, family outings, or solo reflection.

Tips & What to Bring
  • Arrive early, before sunset, to enjoy all the food, vendor booths, music, and pre-launch moments.
  • Bring a blanket or chairs to sit comfortably near the water.
  • Dress in layers—temperatures drop after sunset.

The Water Lantern Festival in Tempe is a chance to share beauty with others under the Phoenix stars. Mark your calendar, grab your tickets early, and prepare for an evening that glows not just on the water, but in your heart.
