The Desert Botanical Garden’s beloved Flashlight Nights offers the chance to explore the desert after dark. Running from July 26 to September 13, this seasonal event invites visitors to experience the garden’s nighttime magic through self-guided flashlight trails and engaging activities.
From 7:00 to 9:30 p.m., guests are invited to wander the Garden’s trails. These themed, self-guided evening walks are included with both general admission and memberships, offering an accessible opportunity.
Flashlight Nights unfolds across five immersive trails, each designed to reveal a new layer of the Garden after dark. Visitors might spot night-blooming flora or encounter critters that rarely show during daylight. Past weeks have featured themed events like “Critter Crawl,” showcasing desert spiders, snakes, frogs, and flying creatures alongside whimsical puppet performances. Other evenings focused on conservation programs, cactus celebrations, and farm-themed agricultural experiences. Student-led science fairs also took center stage, highlighting the Garden’s commitment to play, learning, and community collaboration. Attendees can expect interactive stations and experts at select weekends—plus the opportunity to grab a drink, snacks, or even classic s’mores and Breezy Pops from pop‑up vendors along the way.
Garden staff recommend bringing a refillable water bottle and a flashlight (or headlamp) to maximize the immersive experience. Planning around 90 minutes to explore lets you fully enjoy the trails.
Whether you’re a local seeking a unique family night out or a visitor drawn by the desert’s nocturnal life, Flashlight Nights is perfect. Don’t miss your chance—register online or through the Garden’s box office for a night that’s both enchanting and enlightening.
