Bad Jimmy’s opens a new location in Phoenix — and this time, they’re bringing the smoke.
The beloved Phoenix burger joint, known for its crispy-edged smashburgers and laid-back atmosphere, just opened its third location on July 10 in North Central Phoenix. Housed in the former Cock N’ Tails space near Bethany Home Road and Seventh Street, the new spot is the largest yet — complete with expanded patio seating and, for the first time, a smoker.
Founder James Piazza launched Bad Jimmy’s in 2020 as a pop-up, quickly amassing a loyal following for its no-frills burgers and late-night energy. After opening a brick-and-mortar in downtown Phoenix in 2023 and a second location in Scottsdale this past March, Piazza’s third restaurant continues the upward momentum — but with some delicious upgrades.
The new smoker unlocks menu possibilities that go beyond burgers. In addition to their core lineup — think smashburgers, waffle fries, salads, and soft-serve — Bad Jimmy’s is adding wings as a full-time item across all locations, with your choice of dry rub or house-made buffalo sauce. And with pitmaster Nick Delozier onboard, barbecue specials are coming soon.
While the restaurant occupies a space that once served as a rock ‘n’ roll cocktail bar, Bad Jimmy’s third location keeps the energy fresh and casual — a perfect neighborhood hangout for grabbing a burger, sipping a beer, or lingering over a plate of smoky wings on the patio.
Whether you’re already a fan or just hungry for something new, Bad Jimmy’s latest opening is another win for Phoenix’s ever-evolving food scene.
