Looking for some cool things to do at the Phoenix Zoo this summer? Despite what your dashboard thermometer says, the Phoenix Zoo is still open during the summer months! And not only is it open — it’s buzzing with cool, kid-friendly activities to help families beat the heat and make the most of their break.
If you’ve been looking for a way to entertain your little ones without melting into the pavement, the Phoenix Zoo has two family-favorite events that are worth penciling into your calendar.
Snow in Phoenix? Only at the Zoo!
Mark your calendar for Snow for the Animals, presented by SRP, happening Friday, June 27 starting at 6:30 a.m. This summer event transforms the Phoenix Zoo into a snowy wonderland with tons of fresh snow, enrichment activities for the animals, and cool treats for guests.
Watch as the lion cubs experience snow for the first time, Chutti the greater one-horned rhino digs into a surprise box, and other animals enjoy chilly enrichment designed just for them.
The fun doesn’t stop with the animals — from 9–11 a.m., guests can grab a cone from the Mister Softee truck while the SRP team shares energy-saving tips and exclusive codes for their Summer of Savings Giveaway.
Join Dora on a Scavenger Hunt
From now through July 6, families can explore the new “Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado” scavenger hunt. This is a hands-on adventure where kids can learn alongside their favorite Nickelodeon explorers.
As families make their way through the Zoo, little explorers can collect clues and complete challenges. Once all the riddles are solved, return to the entrance to claim a prize (while supplies last)! This scavenger hunt is the perfect mix of adventure and learning.
