Two Students Arrested in Buckeye for False School Shooting Threats
The Buckeye Police Department has arrested two students following a wave of over 300 school shooting threats reported by concerned community members. After a comprehensive investigation involving patrol officers, school resource officers, and detectives, authorities determined that none of the reported threats were credible.
One of the arrested individuals, a 13-year-old student from Bales Elementary School, was apprehended after a tip-off from the Arizona Counter Terrorism Information Center. The student had posted false threats, leading to her arrest and subsequent criminal charges.
In a separate case, a 17-year-old student from Buckeye Union High School was arrested for falsely claiming on social media that a firearm was spotted in a school bathroom. The post prompted a temporary hold on the school while officers conducted a thorough search, ultimately finding the threat to be baseless. The student now faces both criminal charges and disciplinary actions from the school.
The Buckeye Police Department urges the community to report any violent threats seen on social media directly to authorities rather than sharing or reposting them. The safety of students and staff remains the department’s highest priority, and all threats will continue to be taken seriously and investigated fully.
