Gas Prices Continue to Drop Nationwide, Falling Below $3 in Many States- Is AZ Next?
Following a brief pause over the Labor Day weekend, the national average for a gallon of gas has resumed its steady decline, dropping six cents since last week to $3.30. The decrease is largely driven by a combination of low gas demand and the falling price of oil, which is struggling to stay above $70 a barrel.
“There are now ten states with gasoline averages below $3 a gallon, which means thousands of retail outlets east of the Rockies are selling gas at similarly low prices,” said Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson. The drop in gas prices comes as a welcome relief for drivers, particularly with the typically volatile hurricane season remaining weak and disorganized this year.
In Arizona, the average gas price currently sits slightly higher than the national average at $3.45 per gallon, but this still represents a decline from recent weeks, aligning with the national trend of falling prices.
For electric vehicle drivers, the national average cost for L2 commercial electricity remains unchanged, offering consistent rates amidst the fluctuating fuel prices. As gasoline prices continue to fall, the savings at the pump could provide a significant financial break for many Americans.
Looking ahead, the trend of decreasing pump prices seems set to continue, barring any unexpected changes in market conditions. With current indicators showing stability in oil production and limited impact from weather-related disruptions, drivers across the nation, including those in Arizona, can likely expect these lower prices to stick around in the coming weeks.
