The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has issued a stern reminder to Arizona drivers: speeding in school zones will not be tolerated. As the new school year kicks off, MCSO Deputy Redman took to Facebook to stress the importance of traffic safety around schools.

“In case you didn’t know, MCSO has zero tolerance for speeding in school zones,” the post reads, urging drivers to be extra cautious. In a video accompanying the post, Deputy Redman emphasized, “When you’re going through a school zone and you see 15 mph posted signs, make sure you are going the 15 mph between that posted sign and the crosswalk.”

He added that fines for speeding in these zones will be doubled, highlighting the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit’s commitment to enforcing the rules strictly. “We want everyone to have a safe school year,” he concluded.

Drivers are reminded to slow down, pay attention, and follow posted speed limits to help ensure the safety of students returning to classrooms. MCSO’s zero-tolerance policy aims to protect young pedestrians and create safer communities throughout the county.
