Governor Katie Hobbs today announced a significant advancement in Arizona’s Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program with the approval of Volume II of the state’s application. This milestone unlocks $993 million in federal funds dedicated to connecting every Arizonan with reliable internet services. The approval follows more than a year of extensive stakeholder engagement, public input, and statewide planning to ensure equitable and efficient use of these funds.

“Broadband is the essential thread that ties us all together, and with this funding, we are committed to making sure that every Arizonan has access to reliable and affordable internet,” said Governor Hobbs. “Today’s announcement marks a critical step forward, promising new jobs, stronger communities, and an improved quality of life across the state. We will continue our relentless efforts to ensure these funds contribute to building a thriving and connected Arizona for everyone.”

Sandra Watson, President and CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, echoed the Governor’s sentiments, stating, “Today’s announcement is a historic achievement, reflecting years of hard work and collaboration with our local community partners. Reliable, high-speed internet is closely linked to economic opportunity, particularly in our rural areas. We are grateful to Governor Hobbs for her leadership and to all our federal, state, and local partners for their ongoing support and cooperation.”
