Are You a Facebook User?  Arizonans Can Apply For A Share Of The $725M Settlement

By on August 2, 2023 0 27Views

U.S. Facebook users are eligible for $725 million class-action lawsuit settlement that Meta agreed to pay last year, but you only have one month left to apply.

If you had a Facebook account between the time period of May 2007 and December 2023, you are eligible to receive a share of the settlement. To be considered, consumers must file claim forms by August 25 at 11:59 p.m.

Regardless of if you have or have not posted in a while, the settlement involves privacy lapses with user data. Facebook users have claimed that their data was used without authorization for targeted advertising.  Facebook has denied any wrongdoing, but the agreement means eligible Facebook users can file a claim and receive a portion of the settlement money.

Reportedly, this is the largest class action settlement of its kind. The settlement resulted in policy changes by Meta, to improve user privacy.

To apply for the settlement, users can fill out a form and submit it online, or print it out and mail it. The deadline is August 25.

It’s not uncertain how much money each individual users will receive. The amount each user will receive depend on how many people complete a claim and it will also depend on how long the user had a Facebook account during the eligibility time period.

To submit a claim, go to the settlement website, where you will be asked to enter some information. If you’ve since deleted your Facebook account, you can still file by providing the time period when your account was active.
