Ford Issues Recall For 422,000 SUVs Due To The Rear View Camera May Fail

By on May 19, 2023 0 187Views

Ford has issued a recall on over 422,000 SUVs in the U.S. because the image from the rear camera may not be displayed.

The recall involves Ford Explorers and Lincoln Aviators from the 2020 through 2023 model years, and 2020 through 2022 Lincoln Corsairs. All vehicles have 360-degree cameras.

The carmaker issued a recall the same problem earlier this year, however the solution apparently did not fix the problem.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration released information that the lack of a rear camera image can cut visibility, which can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is working with parts suppliers to identify the issue and develop a solid repair. The carmaker says the vehicles that were fixed under the initial January recall will need to be repaired again.

With the initial recall, Ford said it had more than 2,000 warranty reports about the problem, which resulted in 17 known minor crashes. No injuries had been reported.

Owner notification letters will be mailed on June 26.
