How To Apply For Facebook’s $725 Million Settlement Privacy Suit

If you are a user of Facebook, you could be entitled to a portion of a privacy suit.

Facebook users have until August 2023 to claim their share of a $725 million class-action settlement lawsuit that the court ruled to include privacy violations by the social media company.

The lawsuit began in 2018 after Facebook improperly shared personal information of 87 million users with Cambridge Analytica, a British political consultancy.

Anyone who had an active U.S. Facebook account between May 2007 and December 2022 have until Aug. 25 is eligible to enter a claim and are encouraged to do so.

At the present time, individual settlement payments have not been determined because payouts will depend on how many users submit claims and how long each user maintained a Facebook account.

The violation required Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg to testify before Congress. Zuckerberg was also forced to purchase full-page ads where he apologized for the error. “I’m sorry we didn’t do more at the time. We’re now taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again,” Zuckerberg said in the ads.

Facebook rebranded into Meta in 2021 and settled the class-action suit in 2022.

Facebook users can submit their claim by visiting Facebookuserprivacysettlement.com and entering their name, address, email address, and confirming they were active on Facebook between the required dates.
