Phoenix School District Finalizes Plans To Adopt Four-Day Work Week For Teachers

By on March 8, 2023 0 185Views

Officials with the Cartwright School District announced their teachers will work for four days a week, starting with the 2023-2024 school year. The district hopes that this change will be a strong incentive to attract and recruit new teachers.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, the large school adopted a four-day week for its 14,000 students. When in-person instructions resumed on all campuses, the district kept the four-day schedule for students because families overwhelming preferred the new schedule. The district’s superintendent initiated a task force to analyze, review and implement a plan to make the official change to the entire staff of the school district, not just for the students.

Starting in the Fall of 2023, all 19 schools in the districts will offer teachers a three-day weekend. District leaders feel that by offering a four-day workweek, it will offer a great tool to recruiting new teachers to join teaching in the school district.

Many across the state if this will be the new trend in school schedules.
