The future for Bed Bath & Beyond seems to be somber.

Over the last year, the home goods retailer announced several rounds of store closures across the United States. An announcement was recently made that two additional Bed Bath & Beyond’s metro Phoenix stores will be on the 2023 closure list.

As the struggling retailer works to drastically scale back their brick and mortar stores in an attempt to stay afloat, the two new casualty of closures will be both in the East Valley. The store location at Signal Butte and Baseline roads in Mesa and the location in Chandler Village Center, just south of the Chandler Fashion Center near the Loop 101 Price Freeway and Loop 202 Santan Freeway.

Three additional Arizona locations were on the chain’s closure list for the 2022 fiscal year. Two of those stores have already closed. The Queen Creek Marketplace store will be closing soon. After the closures, the Valley of the sun will only have eight Bed Bath & Beyonds: two in Phoenix, one in Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Avondale, Surprise and Gilbert.

In early January, the brand announced they had to default on their loans and didn’t have sufficient funds to repay what they owed. According to a company reports, the retailer will have shut down more than 400 stores across the U.S., which leaves only half of their stores remaining open for business.

The brand said it foresees the ability to keep their 120 BuyBuy Baby stores in open and in operation.
