Tovrea Castle Tour Opens 2023 Ticket Lottery

If you have caught a glimpse of a unique castle while driving on the 202 Freeway in the east part of the valley and wondered the history of its origins, you can now have a chance to tour the historic home.

The spring 2023 ticket lottery for tours of the Tovrea Castle at Carraro Heights in Phoenix opens Saturday. The lottery will run through Oct. 15

The Valley landmark, also described as the “Wedding Cake Castle” was built in 1928 and has a unique history. The one-of-a-kind location also serves as venue for weddings and private events.

The tour includes a docent on each tour, a tram ride through the location’s infamous Carraro Cactus Gardens and a castle tour.

Regular tours are scheduled Friday-Sunday and will be held regardless of weather.

If you are interested in a tour, you will have to have the luck of the draw on your side. To enter for a chance to be chosen for a tour, you must enter online. If you are selected, you will have the opportunity to purchase tour tickets.

Those interested can enter their contact information with up to three preferred dates and times, as well as their desired total number of tickets.

Those selected will be notified via email with the date and time of their scheduled tour and they will have 72 hours to pay for their tickets or that slot will be given to the next chosen lottery entry.

Tour tickets are $22 per adult, and children 2 years old and younger are free.

The castle is located near Van Buren Street and Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway.
