Lightning Strike Delays Phoenix Sky Harbor Flights

The early morning heavy monsoon storm is wreaking havoc at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport Thursday morning causing several flights to be delayed.

Southwest Airlines is reporting that a lightning strike hit a generator, taking their server down. As a result, 93 flights at Sky Harbor are currently delayed or cancelled, per Sky Harbor’s website as of 7:45 a.m.

As of 8 a.m., officials with Southwest Airlines say that they have fully restored connectivity and are asking customers who have flights today to  check their flight status.

The storms have brought more than a half inch of rain Thursday morning at Sky Harbor.
