Welcome to summer! Valley residents can expect the first excessive heat wave of the season to arrive this week and continue throughout the weekend.
Forecasters are predicting the that temperatures will reach 110 degrees by Thursday. And the heat won’t stop there. Each day this week, it will climb. Monday’s high will be 104 degrees Monday, 107 degrees on Tuesday, 108 degrees on Wednesday. Thursday begins the typical dreaded numbers reaching 110 degrees on Thursday, 112 degrees on Friday and 113 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday.
For those looking to escape the head and have plans to head north, even the cooler pines are expecting high temperatures in the mid 80’s.
Authorities are reminding residents the importance of staying hydrated during the extreme heat. It is also recommended to limit time spent outside. It is also important to check on elderly family members and neighbors to make sure their air conditioning is functioning correctly and they are staying hydrated.
