Lenny’s Burger Shop Owner Pleads Guilty To Filing False Tax Returns

The owner and founder of two popular metro Phoenix burger shops pleaded guilty Wednesday to filing false tax returns over a three year period.

Leonard Fleszar of Lenny’s Burger Shop, filed federal personal income tax returns underreporting income from the two Lenny’s locations he owned from 2014 through 2017 according to court documents.

Fleszar underreported income of approximately $450,000 in 2015, $475,000 in 2016 and $605,000 in 2017.

Fleszar pleaded guilty Wednesday to filing the false tax returns.

The maximum term of prison for one count of filing a false income tax return is three years. Fleszar will have to pay $689,475 in restitution to the Internal Revenue Service as part of his plea. He faces an additional fine of $250,000 and probation of up to five years.

Fleszar’s sentencing is scheduled for July 7.
